Your past work and volunteer experiences and training uniquely qualify you to fill a gap in the work force. What product or service can you offer better than most?
Since you are starting from scratch, make your dream job fit your strengths. Think about what you have enjoyed most in past jobs and add those to the list. It may be you can offer services other companies can’t because of your past experiences.
When your plan is complete, begin to consider the practical side of beginning a business. You may not be ready to open an office, but you are available to work every day even if you never leave your home. Can your dream job become a reality through a home office?
If you are not in a position to leave your current job before beginning a new career, consider offering your services as a motivational speaker, trainer, or consultant. Contact your local community college to inquire about the need for classes in your area of expertise.
The path to your dream job does not have to be traveled in just one step, so be patient if you can’t accomplish all of your goals right away. Refer often to your personal inventory and plan for growth. Think of it as a To Do List to help you accomplish your goals. At the end of that list, your dream job just might be waiting!
