Day four will be spent driving to the infamous city of Rio de Janeiro. The drive down along the coast is beautifully picturesque, and as you round the cliffs at Vidigal, your eyes will observe one of the most unforgettable cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro is the gem of Brazil, located along the Atlantic Ocean, and is often referred to as the “Marvelous City”.

There are very few cities in the world as beautiful as this one. You can spend the day laying out on one of the gorgeous, white beaches at Ipanema and Copacabana. This is paradise with the deep blue waters of the Atlantic, and the radiant green waters of Guanabara Bay. Visitors will appreciate the enormous statue of Christ the Redeemer, standing over the city on top of Corcovado (Hunchback). After you are done at the beach, travel to the top of Corcovado and enjoy a breathtaking, panoramic view of the city below. Or, you can travel to the top of Pao do Acucar (Sugar Loaf) by cable car and take in another tremendous view.

In the late afternoon, tour some of the older structures of the city that date back to the Portuguese monarchy in the 19th century. Spend the evening in this beautiful city, taking part in the Carioca enthusiasm for life.
