Brazil is the largest and most heavily populated country in South America. It is located between Central South America and the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Actually, the only South American countries that it does not border are Ecuador and Chile. The landscape of Brazil contains a large amount of agricultural lands and rain forests. Portuguese is the official language of Brazil as it was a former colony of Portugal. The country got its name from the brazilwood tree, which was of great value to the colonists.
