Northeastern Brazil is home to the city of Fortaleza. Economically speaking, Fortaleza is one of the most important cities in its region. It has a population of around 2 million. Some of the landmarks and popular tourist destinations in the city are as follows: the Jose de Alencar playhouse, the Mucuripe lighthouse, the Cathedral, the Iracema Statue, the Nossa Senhora da Assuncao Fort, and the Palace of Light. There are various sporting activities for visitors to enjoy in the city of Fortaleza. There are several soccer clubs, the Fortaleza E, the Ferroviario AC, and the Ceara SC. Fortaleza’s strong winds also make it a great place for nautical sports. In fact, the city hosts world competitions of surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.
