Some metal beds are called open toe beds, meaning that the footboard is open with usually only bedposts on the end corners of the bed.
Canopy beds are another popular option with metal beds. Canopy beds are beds that have long slender posts that extend above the bed close to the ceiling and form a rectangular enclosure of metal above the bed. People choose to use the canopy bed in different ways. Some drape fabric over the extension that is above the headboard, some choose to enclose the entire canopy in fabric, and still others leave the simple beauty of the metal canopy to speak for itself.
Daybeds are another style of metal beds. Daybeds are beds that can serve as both a couch and a bed. They have metal work on three sides of the bed and are open on one side to allow for seating and sleeping.
