» Purchasing Tips
Like about anything you want to buy, you can spend a relatively small amount of money up to incredible amounts of money on your purchase of a loft bed. There are many manufacturers of loft beds and several purchase options. Prices can start near $100 and go up to thousands of dollars for some of the more elaborate loft beds. Some considerations to make when purchasing your loft bed are:
· Design and form: How does it look? Does it fit your needs? How about the look you are going for? Are you outfitting a child’s room or your home living room? Do you want the bed to be prominent or less noticeable? Do you want a bed that has a desk already built in or do you want that space to be left open?
· Function: What is your main reason for having a loft bed? Are you furnishing a child’s room or for a young professional in a studio apartment? The frame you choose will help you determine what the space under the loft bed can be used for; a home office, play space, storage, etc…
· Quality: Are you buying a bunk bed that you hope will become a family heirloom? Or are you buying loft bed that you plan on using for 6 months while you are staying in a very small space? The quality of the loft bed you purchase will certainly help determine the price you pay. You need to also consider the quality of the mattress that your loft bed will hold. Some loft bed frames will only hold fairly thin mattresses. You need to take total quality into account when choosing your loft bed.
· Fit and Feel: Especially if you have never used a loft bed, it can take some getting used to. Make sure that at a minimum, you test out a similar model and the exact model you want to purchase if at all possible. Lie down on the bed, go up and down the ladder several times, toss and turn, and generally put the loft bed through your normal paces. Remember, it’s a little more work and feels a bit different than your normal bed. It’s important that you be able to sleep with these differences. Try out as many as possible and choose the model that feels best to you overall.
