Should you buy an antique brass bed or a reproduction?

Quality antique brass beds are hard to find, according to Leigh and Leslie Keno of the television show, Find! The Keno brothers say that often times, older brass beds are no longer structurally sound, have been painted or have been worn down from years of polishing. If you do find a quality antique, then it will probably be very expensive. Another problem with any type of antique bed is sizing: true antiques are only going to be found in twin or double-sized frames. Adjustments can be made by professionals to accommodate larger mattresses, but the value of the antique is reduced by such reconfiguration.
