Superior-quality, solid brass beds are made by hand. The process is painstaking, but the result of quality craftsmanship is undeniable in the final product. Most of the features on the headboard and footboard of the brass bed are constructed of heavy gauge brass tubing. The other decorative parts to the bed—the finials or globes—are often hand-cast in a process in which hot liquid brass is poured into molds and allowed to harden. The frame of the bed is usually made of steel or other metals. The frame is carefully attached to the brass components to ensure stability. A quality brass bed is very heavy, stable, and will last a lifetime.
