» Showerhead Purchasing Tips
Given the styles and options of showerheads on the market today, you have a staggering volume of choices for your showerhead. Expense is, of course, always a factor in such a decision, but there are several other things you should consider as you examine your options:
· Shower preference: Because of the differences in the various styles, this is probably the most important consideration. What do you demand from a standard shower, and how do you like to feel when you exit your shower? If you view your shower as an invigorating way to start your day, you’re probably predisposed toward an adjustable-spray showerhead due to the more intense water flow. Alternatively, if you prefer a soothing shower before bed, the gentle water flow of a rainshower showerhead is probably your best bet. Finally, if you enjoy the immersive feel of a spa-type shower (and you’re willing to spend the extra money), a shower tower can provide you with that experience.
· Style: If your only concerns are water flow pressure and adjustability, it’s unlikely that you’re worried about the appearance of your showerhead. However, if you’d prefer that your showerhead be decorative as well as functional, you should definitely investigate some of the rainshower options. The wider face and overhead mounting of a rainshower showerhead grants it a more elegant appearance than an adjustable spray.
· Ease of installation: It’s a good idea to get professional help when installing a showerhead, but if you’re determined to install the showerhead yourself you should definitely factor installation into your purchasing decision. As a general rule, adjustable-spray showerheads are the easiest to install, followed by rainshower and shower towers, respectively.
· Uses: Will your shower only be used by you or other adults, or will it also serve to bathe children and pets? If you’ll frequently use your shower to bathe your children or wash your dog, you might consider a handheld showerhead. There are a number of adjustable-spray, handheld showerheads on the market, but if you’ve chosen an overhead rainshower fixture you’ll find it difficult to comfortably focus the water on babies or pets.
