Saunas Overview

Saunas are small wooden rooms attached to a home, gym, or hotel room used for heat and steam bathing. The airtight rooms are heated to about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. No doubt these temperatures can make one wary of ill effects, but rest assured saunas are extremely safe and physically and mentally beneficial.

There are a couple ways to use a sauna. Some people enjoy taking a hot shower to rinse off first. Then, with only a towel on, you can sit in the sauna. As you allow the heat to surround you, your pours begin to open and you begin to sweat. This process also helps to expand your blood vessels allowing better circulation and blood flow.

Generally twenty to thirty minutes is all that is needed to achieve the desired affect. It is good to use a sauna at least once a week, and up to four or five times if at all possible. Increased usage will have a greater effect on you physically.
