Using a sauna to help reduce blood pressure is one of the primary benefits of the sweat bath. The excessive heat in the sauna causes the capillaries in the skin to dilate. This causes one’s blood pressure to drop. If one already has a history of low blood pressure than one should consult a physician before using a sauna for extended periods of time.

Reducing high blood pressure has obvious health benefits. Alleviating stress and tension brings health and wellness to one’s mind as well as to the body. The calming aspects of twenty minutes in a sauna are priceless in terms of long-term health care. Not only does the time in the sauna give one’s body tension relief but it also gives the mind time to gather and reflect on the day. Certainly reduction in high blood pressure, tension reduction and a general bodily calming are all great aspects of the sweat bath.
