Bidet Attachments to Existing Toilets

While bidets are nearly three centuries old, bidet attachments have only appeared in the last half-century. Bidet attachments, or, as they are often called, bidet seats, attach onto existing toilets to give you the utility of a bidet without requiring the space of a standalone model.

Bidet attachments are often several hundred dollars cheaper than are standalone bidets, yet there is only a minor drop, if any, in performance. In addition, if you have limited floor space in your bathroom or you are too embarrassed to display a standalone bidet, a bidet attachment is your best option. The other main advantage to a bidet attachment is that you can install it yourself. No need to hire a plumber; simply follow the instructions provided (hopefully) in your owner’s manual.

Most bidet attachments will easily attach to all toilets, but if you have an extra small or large toilet, make sure the attachment will fit. In addition, some bidet attachments require electricity, so purchase an attachment with an encased cord, or determine another method to protect your bidet’s electric source from water.

Finally, you can also consider purchasing a handheld bidet. You can attach a handheld bidet to your toilet, but you can also hold it in your hands and simply use it when you are on your toilet
