Three month old babies can raise their heads and chests when they are put down on their tummies. They can lift their heads up 45 degrees. When they lay on their back, they can kick and straighten their legs. When they are placed on a hard surface, these babies can push down with their legs, as if they're trying to stand up. They reach for dangling objects, track moving objects, and grasp and shake hand toys. They begin to imitate sounds, and they recognize familiar things and people, even from a distance. Three month olds will begin to develop a social smile, and their hand-eye coordination will start to develop. They can bring both hands together. They are interested in circular and spiral patterns and they can energetically kick their legs. They can hold their heads up with control.
