For many women the decision whether to bottle feed or breastfeed their child is a very personal one. A long list of factors will usually go into the decision of which one will be best for them, their baby, and their family. Breastfeeding is the most nutritious way to feed an infant. The baby receives all the nutrients it needs from the breast milk. Women who breastfeed are also able to pump their breast milk and the milk can either be saved for a later time or fed to their baby in a bottle as a supplement for the breast. This is done either when a mother is working and cannot be with her baby at feeding time or when a baby's appetite grows and a bottle of breast milk is needed to fill the baby up after feeding from the breasts. A bottle fed baby is one that gets his or her nutrition from formula that is specially designed for growing infants and newborns and fed to babies through a bottle. There are several types of formulas on the market today. The formula companies claim their formulas are the next best thing to breast milk. Each method has its own benefits that have to be carefully weighed by the pregnant mother and determined which one best suits her lifestyle.
