There is no question that breast milk is the best milk for a baby but there are situations in which women are unable to breastfeed. Some women are unable to breast feed because of inverted nipples or some other structural problem while others have low milk production and some women even experience one or both breasts not producing enough milk. While bottle feeding is much more expensive than breastfeeding, some women choose to bottle feed after weighing their options and deciding that bottle feeding is right for them. Listed below are some reasons women prefer to bottle feed their babies as opposed to breastfeeding:
• More Convenient: Many women feel that bottle feeding their baby with formula is more convenient than breastfeeding in that it allows them to feed the baby where ever they are without having to excuse themselves from the room to breastfeed or running the risk making others feel uncomfortable by breastfeeding in public.
• Less Time Consuming: A lot of mothers see bottle feeding as less time consuming than breastfeeding also. An average bottle feeding can last between 10 and 30 minutes where an average breastfeeding can last between 20 and 45 minutes. For women who are on the go or have other children to take care of this seems to be a reason why they choose bottle over breast.
• Shared Responsibilities: Bottle feeding allows other people than the mother to feed the baby. Dads often feel more bonded to the baby if they are able to take part in this. It also allows grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other family friends to feed the baby.
• No Guessing: When a baby is bottle fed there is no guessing how much he or she is eating at each feeding.
