There are several different parts that go into making a hybrid car. Different hybrid models will have different combinations of those parts in order to make the car run. Some of the standard parts on a hybrid vehicle include:
• Gasoline Engine: Like gasoline powered cars, hybrids have gasoline engines however the engines in hybrids are much smaller and use cutting edge technology to reduce fuel emission levels.
• Electric Motor: A hybrid cars electric motor is a very advanced part in the power and running of the car. The engineering of the electric motor also allows it to run as a generator for the car. This basically means that the electric motor is able to take energy from the batteries if it needs to in order to accelerate; it is also capable of restoring energy to the batteries when the car is slowed down.
• Generator: The generator is a lot like the electric motor but it only produces electrical power.
• Fuel Tank: A hybrid's fuel tank acts as a storage device for the cars gasoline engine.
• Transmission: The transmission of a hybrid provides the same function as the transmission of a gasoline car.
• Batteries: The batteries of a hybrid car act as a storage device for the electric motor.
