» Trip Three - Beaches
Australia boasts over 7,000 beaches - more than any other nation. Perhaps the best place to enjoy them is the Northeast part of the country.
Day One – The Gold Coast
Queensland’s Gold Coast’s 70 kilometers of beaches provide glamorous and relaxing activities to some, and adventurous and active activities to others. Along with the 70 kilometers of coast, there are 446 kilometers of canals and rivers. This is Australia’s largest expanse of calm water, and you can swim and surf safely all year at 35 patrolled beaches.
The Gold Coast is also Australia’s theme park capital, with 21 themed attractions and heart-thumping rides at four major parks. For the more unusual, meet some of Australia’s unique animals and marine life. The Gold Coast has long held its reputation as a top family destination. Themed attractions and safe, clean beaches are ideal for children, and wildlife sanctuaries offer simple delights for all ages.
Day Two – Brisbane
Brisbane’s easy-going, sub-tropical ambience is the backdrop of plenty of activities. Here you can visit islands, savor mouth-watering cuisine and fine local wines or soak up the arts or sporting lifestyle.
Brisbane’s sapphire blue Moreton Bay offers plenty of watery activities. Charter a boat, discover reefs edging the dozens of islands, or catch your own dinner. Moreton Bay’s protected waters are home to 155 islands, and each one offers different vacation opportunities. Choose a private escape for two or take advantage of the opportunities for family fun. Explore islands prized for their white sandy beaches and quiet camping spots. Meet a local or two, and discover the local history.
Day Three – Driving to Cairns
Heading up the coast, along the Great Barrier Reef, will take you to and through many great beaches and other stops. Cairns is where you will end your trip, because it has an international airport.
