The owners of the Café take their wine programme very seriously with your meal there is a selection on 20 and beyond different wines from around the globe. At the Café you can enjoy a wide range of fantastic meals that range from really healthy (if you are watching your weight), a wide selection of vegetarian meals or some really fresh grilled fish that will make your mouth water. Prices are reasonable value for money with entrees ranging from around $13 - £28 or if you just want a main course then an average cost of just $8 - $16 makes excellent value for money.

• If you want basic surroundings in a restaurant which is suitable for families and still offers great Mexican cuisine then a visit to the Jardin Corona will be for you. Despite the casual atmosphere when you arrive, you are guaranteed an excellent service for a good price and most of the meals are so big, they can feed two people! You can enjoy a meal like the mixed fajitas which is very popular and tasty and if you want to finish this off with an excellent margarita then why not? Reservations are not accepted for this diner style restaurant but it is best to arrive early because on weekends it can get quite crowded and with prices ranging from just $4 - $15 you may get more than you originally bargained for, the diner is open from 7am – 2pm Monday to Sunday and re-opens again from 5pm to 9pm.


• If you are a major lover of Mexican Cuisine then another restaurant that comes highly recommended with its traditional menu choices is Fonda San Miguel located on the West North Loop in Austin. The restaurant first opened its doors in 1975 and for almost thirty years the owners have strived to bring excellent cuisine to the area and it is said that many presidential families have and sometimes continue to dine in the restaurant. Even though you are getting a tasty and well prepared meal, prices are outstanding, main courses start from just $4 and can rise up to around $40 but overall the same quality is showcased in any meal you choose and it will keep you coming back for more. There are also several items on the menu that originated when the restaurant first opened its doors and it still remains today. Meals are served throughout the day, opening hours are Monday – Thursday 5.30pm to 9.30pm, Friday – Saturday 5.30pm – 10.30pm and Sunday Brunch is served from 11am – 2pm.

• Perhaps you want to have a basic meal with the family where fancy preparation is not so much of a necessity. The Hyde Park Bar and Grill can be found on Duval Street and you will find the interior quite retro style so you may feel like your going through a time warp but it is a good place to meet up and have a simple yet tasty family meal. The chicken salad tends to be a common favourite but if you would prefer to have brunch then on weekends between 11am – 3pm, you can enjoy such cuisine like eggs Benedict, omelettes and Belgian waffles. The grill opens from 11am – 12am daily and prices are available by request by contacting the restaurant on (512) 458-3168.
