Why should I keep on trying?

Learning astronomy is no different than learning other things—it takes practice. The first time you threw a dart—did you make a bullseye? The first time you used a gun—did you hit the target? In your first game of billiards—did you make the pocket on the first try? With the swing of a baseball bat—did you get a homerun or a strike? Score a point in basketball, or pick up a new musical instrument and play a symphony?

Now you understand.

Sometimes astronomy can be as lucky as hitting the bullseye on the first throw, but most of the time it is more like learning to play a game. The more your practice, the easier it becomes. Don’t be afraid of disappointments or frustrating nights—everyone learns at a different pace. Remember your three P’s and you’ll soon be amazed at what you can do!
