If you answer yes to the following questions, then you probably already have some form of Performance Management in place. If you answer no, then it’s probably time for you to look into implementing a management system.
- Have you created measurable goals that reflect your overall corporate strategy?
- Have you communicated these goals to your employees?
- Do your employees understand these goals and how they can support them?
- Have you helped all of your employees to set measurable goals to help them personally achieve the overall goal?
- Do your teams, departments, and individual employees know how they’re doing in terms of meeting goals?
- Have you provided your managers and employees with the tools, skills, and training they need to meet the goals you’ve set?
- Do you have the data you need to compare employee and departmental performance to set pay scales, recognize performance, and make plans accordingly?
Experts identify questions such as these as key to understanding whether you have a good performance management system in place. Just setting the goals isn’t enough; you have to have ways of measuring results. Results are what it’s all about!
