Beginner knitters can easily get defeated before they even begin. You can pick up a pattern and feel like you are looking at a foreign language. Don’t forget to use your local yarn store (LYS) as a resource. So many things in knitting are easier to learn when someone shows you rather than trying to extract the information off of a piece of paper. A LYS will offer classes that will help you get started, and you can always find other knitters who are happy to explain patterns and show you techniques. Stay encouraged and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Before long you will be reading knitting patterns fluently!
