Serissa or Serissa Foetida

This is one of two of the most commonly bought Bonsais in the US. The other is the Juniper tree. Serissas are much adored for the tiny little flowers they produce, but they are not beginner trees. The problem is when you buy the shrub from the store it looks phenomenal. Then you bring it home and within a few days all the leaves fall off. At this point most people panic and they begin over watering or under watering the plant, when in reality all they have to do is be patient. These Bonsais are extremely picky and will lose their leaves even if you move them or if it is too hot or too cold or if there is a lighting shift. Basically, they will lose their leaves over pretty much any kind of change. If you are going to buy this kind of Bonsai, you should do your research first and not just buy it on a whim. I also recommend having a couple of years of experience under your belt to boot.
