There are over 600 hundred different Ficus species, most of which are indoor Bonsais. Some of the most common are Retusa, Ficus Microcarpa and Ficus Formosanum. Even though there are so many different kinds of Ficus, for the most part, they are cared for in the same fashion. Obviously you will need to care for your Ficus to its exact specifications, but they generally come with the same broad set of rules. Most Ficus produce an inverted flower which resembles fruit, but the large majority does not produce edible fruit. These indoor trees are easily grown and naturally grow “banyan” roots. Banyan roots are roots grown over rocks or roots which grow in the open air. This is another great selection if you are a beginner.
