Once you have your photographs and keepsakes organized, your album and tools ready, and some free time, you can get started on your first page. Determine where you want to begin by selecting a set of material to work on. Select some themed or colored paper or cardstock that will coordinate with your materials, and then pick one photograph that will serve as the main focus of your page. If needed, crop the photograph to enhance the subject. One way to emphasize the main photograph is to frame or mat it. Do a dry run by placing your materials on the page to get a good layout. Once you have an idea of where you want everything to go, you can arrange and adhere them to your pages. Add journaling to your layout by writing directly on the pages or by writing on coordinating paper or cardstock and adhering the paper to the pages. Finish off your first page by adding extras such as glitter, stickers or other embellishments according to your own tastes. Be sure to keep in mind what kind of scrapbook you want. If it is chronological, keep photographs and other materials in order. As with any other craft or hobby, be yourself and allow time for creativity. Scrapbooking can be a fun and rewarding way to go back in time and experience life all over again.
