Cloth Dolls
The most common type of doll to make is the cloth doll; and within this category, there are a wide range of choices. There are different levels of difficulty, depending on what style doll you choose to make and how detailed the doll is. In general, dolls with the least amount of sculpting are the easiest to make. Once you start adding faces with a profile, detailed fingers, busts and the like, the doll becomes more difficult to make.
An easy doll to begin with is called the “pancake doll,” which consists of just 2 pieces of fabric and a flat face and mitten hands. You can easily find patterns for cloth dolls to match a huge variety of themes. There are angel dolls, cupid dolls, country dolls, can-can dolls, dolls for certain seasons and the list goes on.
