The particular supplies that you will need for a doll making project will depend primarily upon which type of doll that you choose to make. If you download or buy a doll pattern, it should include a list of the supplies needed to complete the project. The materials required can be purchased at most craft stores or easily ordered on-line. Here is a list of some common supplies used by doll makers:

Fabrics : hand-dyed ethnic fabrics to match skin colors or various races, dip ‘n drape for molding hats, polyester knit, buck suede, craft velour, wool blend felt and muslin

Doll hair choices: curly hair for dolls, Tibetan lamb, heat bondable fiber, mohair, yarn, wool and silk roving

General supplies: (all of these will not be needed for every doll. You should check your instructions carefully.)

- pens, paints and finishes
- special needles – quilting, darners, beading, doll, craft, jointing, etc.
- stuffing forks that help you stuff all extremities of a doll
- covered buttons for doll joints
- tiny turning tubes, especially good for making perfect hands
- doll’s eyes
- proportional scale for reducing/enlarging patterns or determining the sizes of accessories
- iron on faces
- tacky craft glue that dries clear or hot glue gun and glue
- hemostats
- tweezers
- face stencils
- freezer paper
