There are many types of wax available to use in candle making. The most common types of wax used are beeswax and paraffin. Paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum refining and beeswax is a byproduct of honey collection. Candle wax can also be made up of stearin, a product made of palm waxes; gel, a mixture of resin and mineral oil; soy, made from soybean wax, or tallow. Be sure that the type of wax that you use is suitable for the type of candle that you are making.
