Besides wax and wax melting equipment, there are other supplies needed in order to make candles. Some supplies such as dyes and fragrance are optional, but can make your candles exceptionally unique. Fragrances such as essential oils can be added to the melted wax in order to scent the candle. Popular fragrances include cinnamon and vanilla. Lavender, rose, other flower fragrances, mint, and spices are used in aromatherapy candles. Dyes are used to color candles. There are an endless number of dyes available, making any shade of color possible. Creative candle makers can even mix shades to give candles a swirled, two-toned, or layered effect.
