If craft ability was comparable to superpowers, this lady would be Super-Extreme-Ultra-Weaving-Woman...or something.
They are learning this traditional basket weaving method from Kathy Edgar of Crofton, a member of the Nitinat Band, which is part of the Nuu-cha-nulth Nation. Edgar has a lot of experience making baskets and it shows in her patience with the students.
"It takes lots of patience," she said. "And I have 18 years of practice teaching basket weaving."
Having tried to teach basket-weaving myself, I can sympathize. I was booted from the second grade crafts fair after I roundhouse kicked some little brats that couldn't get the hang of it.
Well, ok, that never happened, but I bet you could imagine what it would be like if it did!
Stop judging me.
