Crocheting in the slammer

This is either sweet or unsettling, I can't really tell.

Instead of using his hands to fight and resolve his issues, Allen, 17, has a more peaceful chore.

Serving time at Mountain View Youth Development Center for assault, Allen is one of about 40 youths at the center who has taken up crocheting.

The creations made by the juveniles are donated to local organizations and are given to family members.

"It's become a wonderful therapeutic tool that they themselves found," said Sheena Lundin, the center's chief of volunteer services and its ambassador.

Alright, I know it's wrong to mock a juvenile delinquent's efforts at rehabilitation, but I just worry that he's going to make afghans with human skulls on them.
