What do I do if my stitch does not look right?

Did you make the correct stitch? If you pulled the yarn through the correct places, through the correct number of loops at a time, in the correct order, you have the correct stitch. Any difference between your stitch and your teacher's stitch is a mere variance in crochet methods.

The same stitch made by two people can look slightly different, as some visual learners may realize. This is caused by the number of loops involved in crochet, which varies the possibilities for stitch appearance because each loop may or may not be twisted while being crocheted.

Such variance is not wrong. It is merely a demonstration of crochet's ease of personalization.
