Cinnamon

Yep. Now it's not just a tasty spice to put on one's toast, turns out cinnamon is also one of the oldest herbal remedies in history.

Cinnamon is the common name for the trees and shrubs that belong to the genus Cinnamomum of the Laurel family, and the form people are typically familiar with is a processed form.

As an herbal remedy, Cinnamon bark is used orally for gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and gas. It is also used for stimulating appetite, bacterial and worm infections, the common cold, and the flu. Cinnamon has also been used for dysmennorrhea (painful menstruation).

So, that's nice that every time I pop by the donut shop for some cinnamon buns I'm preventing some household infections...I think.
