Although there are so many things that are positive of about using an infomercial to promote a product, this list includes some risks involved:


  • They have a risk. It is estimated that only one out of ten infomercials makes a profit. An infomercial must be done with the greatest of expertise to guarantee that it will be effective.
  • They are expensive. Infomercials cost a lot more than a normal commercial. They usually cost any where from $75,000 to as much as $1,500,000 depending on the methods used to sell the product. Any celebrities or special effects used in the infomercial would increase the price as well.
  • They can be viewed as clichéd. For some products, the testimonials and other tactics in an infomercial are viewed as cheap, or overused. When making an infomercial, one must be certain to use effective tactics while not overusing them.
