Focus groups are a way to learn the attitudes and opinions of people that would not normally be shared. The goal of a focus group is to assess a company or product to see what areas are working well and what areas need improvement. Focus groups provide a safe, non-threatening place for people to voice problems they are experiencing regarding the business or product but also things that are working well. The information gathered from a focus group would enable those in charge to see problems that would not otherwise be noted and fix those problems. The feedback also allows the management to improve the overall quality and environment of the workplace, therefore, increasing productivity and profit. However, because people often say one thing but do another, focus groups should not be the only method of obtaining information.
