Focus groups are an inexpensive and easy way to gather in-depth information on many different topics in a fairly short period of time. They do not require much preparation or difficult sampling methods. They also allow the possibility for unexpected related topics to come up in conversation and be investigated as well, providing more useful information. Focus groups provide companies or leadership with insight into the minds of their employees, customers, clients, etc.

Listening to people share and compare their different points of view provides a wealth of information.
As the people involved in the focus group become more comfortable, they begin to open up and share their true opinions and why they think what they think. Focus groups can show a company if their product, service, etc. needs work, where it needs work, and why it needs work through the honest, open comments of the people involved in the focus group.
