If after your first jump you fall in love with the thrill of skydiving, then you might be interested in getting licensed. Getting licensed gives you the ability to jump without instructor supervision. Getting a license also benefits you because it greatly decreases the price of going skydiving. Since you don’t have to take a class and an instructor doesn’t have to go with you, you usually only have to pay for the space on the airplane.
There are four types of skydiving licenses. These are basic, intermediate, advanced, and master. In order to get a basic license you will need to complete 20 freefall jumps. Three of these freefall jumps must be controlled freefalls of 40 seconds or longer. You also have to accumulate a total of at least 5 minutes of freefall time. Finally, you have to prove that you know how to pack your own parachute, how to react in an emergency, and other general skydiving information.
