This article from the The Plain Dealer advocates a less-typical approach to adventure travel: Bring the kiddies along, too.

It might seem counterintuitive to bring the brats along to drag down the vacation vibe, but the lure of these adventure trips is in having an expert of the area do most of the planning and lodging and meals for you, also catering to the children's interests.

Trips like these aren't cheap, though some might not cost much more than a trip to Orlando, Fla. - $1,000 or less per person for a rafting trip or safari, for example. Other trips can cost that much per day, but price doesn't seem to be a deterrent.
