One of the best adventure travel hot-spots (not to be taken literally) is the wildlife preserves and national parks of Alaska.

The linked site offers Alaskan vacation packages where guests are invited to stay at upstate lodges and/or adventures in river rafting, fishing, kayaking and hiking in the Kenai Peninsula and in Denali National Park.

Among the many other selling points, Alaska probably has the widest variety of varying ecosystems in the same relative area, so traveling there ensures a plethora of places to choose from.

Er, I hope that whole wildlife oil-drilling fiasco won't hurt tourism that much.
