Ballooning is a sport that has increased in popularity in recent years. A decade ago, Ballooning was virtually unknown and unheard of. No one knew anything about it. In the past few years, however, the word has gotten out about the sport of Ballooning. It can be as competitive as a race around the world in a balloon, or as simplistic as a nice, romantic float over the mountains as the sun sets for an anniversary present. The is a wide range of aspects to Ballooning. It can be a hobby that some people do for fun when they have free time. Or it can be a way of life for some people who devote their every waking moment to the sport. By definition, a balloon is an inflatable, flexible bag that is filled with hot air or a gas that is lighter than air, resulting in the bag rising from the ground. Think of the balloons that the clown makes at the circus, and then multiply that times one hundred and attach a wicker basket big enough to fit a handful of people at the bottom of the balloon. This describes a typical balloon that is used in the sport of Ballooning. The balloon is then steered and controlled by the addition or release of the hot air or lighter than air gas that is pumped into it.
